Our Story

EMW LAW was founded in 2017 by Ellise M. Washington, a passionate and dedicated attorney who believed that the legal industry could—and should—do better. Ellise knew there had to be a better way, so she founded EMW LAW with a clear mission: to provide compassionate, client-centered legal services that prioritize the needs and well-being of those being served. She wanted to create a law firm where clients felt heard, respected, and genuinely cared for—a place where they could trust that their legal matters were in capable hands.

Growing up in Alabama, particularly Fairfield by way of Ensley, Ellise understood the unique challenges and needs of those she sought to serve. She saw firsthand how legal issues, could create significant stress and hardship for individuals and families. She knew that navigating the legal system could be daunting, especially when clients felt like they were just another file on a lawyer’s desk.

With EMW LAW, Ellise sought to change that narrative. She envisioned a law firm that would not only provide exceptional legal services but also be a pillar of support for those in need.
